guys im not 100% certain if anyone will know but im having a problem with my P reg 1.6 SI at the moment. Basicly what happens is from a cold start in the morning the engine will fire first time without any problem but them coming down the rev's it will get close to idle and then start running really lumpy and stall, when listening in the engine bay, when its running lump its as if it keeping taking deep breaths of air to keep itself running instead of a constant flow, this indicated to me the ISCV being clogged up and properly cleaning. Ive done the plug test on it so far and when taking the plug out it just dies soo i know this is working to an extent. When u give it some revs and let it warm up a litte it idles perfect. the only thing that makes it not sound like the ISCV is that when u turn it off, leave it for a few mins, 10mins or so and start again, it will again will come to idle and run still run lumpy for a bit,it wont stall but then will correct itself.

If anyone has had this problem before and know how its solved please let me know as its driving me crazy lol

Cheers guys

Mick

Hey Mike...

Sorry for the delayed reply... Not many people know about the forum so its a bit quiet.

So a lumpy idle...

Firstly, When was the last service done?

Spark plugs
Leads
Air filter
Fuel Filter
Oil
Oil Filter

Unplug the MAF (air flow meter) and see if things improve.
If so, replace the maf.. or spray carb n choke cleaner onto the hot wire sensor inside it.

As for the ISCV.. it could be the cause..only removal and cleaning or renewal can eliminate it.

Do you have a vaccum leak?

There's a vaccum pipe from the brake servo to the inlet manifold on the back of the engine.

Assuming its a black plastic inlet manifold then theres another rubber pipe the plugs into the manifold just below the throttle body... check this is connected.

If its the earlier silver alloy manifold then there will the same pipe but connecting somewhere..not sure where.

Try these and get back to me.

Dave
